With nearly 25% of NASA's current workforce eligible to retire within five years, the agency faces “a huge retirement bulge,” according to U.S. Rep. Sherwood Boehlert (R‐NY). Boehlert, chair of the House of Representatives Science Committee, introduced legislation on 5 March to resolve these concerns by offering a package of stimuli to recruit and retain employees. Boehlert said that although NASA is not the only agency facing workforce issues, NASA's needs “are especially critical.”
