A project to reclaim brownfields, or once‐contaminated sites, took a step forward on December 6 with the U.S. federal government expanding its brownfields showcase communities initiative to add 10 additional cities to the 6 previously included. In cities including Dallas, Texas and Glen Cove, New York, public and private partnerships have helped to clean up brownfields and reuse the areas to revive local economies. These new showcase cities are now eligible for broader federal assistance and coordinated technical support.
