One of the few geological disciplines that can be exported easily to other planets is volcanology. Aside‐by‐side comparison of volcanic features on these other planets, as is presented in this book, will help to bring both Earth scientists and lay readers up‐to‐date in this interesting field. The title alone should go a long way toward informing the general public that there are indeed volcanoes on other planets. The author is aware of these needs because he states that his book is meant to fill two niches—a popular text for the general public and a technical text for introductory college courses.
