On January 1, William S. Reeburgh began his 4‐year term as editor of Global Biogeochemical Cycles (GBC). In his new role, Reeburgh seeks to maintain the high standards set by previous editors James McCarthy, Karl Turekian, and Jorge Sarmiento. Their efforts have brought GBC to preeminence in its field in only 10 years, as shown by recently released citation impact factors. Biogeochemistry is inherently interdisciplinary, and Reeburgh's goal is to maintain and expand GBC as the journal of choice for the best work by physical and biological scientists investigating biogeochemical interactions among atmospheric, terrestrial, and oceanic environments.
