This note introduces a design for a low‐cost continuous digital output water level recorder. The Stowaway™ volt data logger from Onset Computer Corporation is modified to incorporate a steady voltage input. A simple float‐pulley system can be constructed, or the logger can be attached to existing analog recorders. Laboratory and field accuracy tests indicate that the recorder is capable of producing reliable estimates of stage. In‐field accuracy is a function of the float‐pulley system and the choice of accuracy in the electronic components employed in the modification of the data logger.
