At an estimated $12.3 million per year, El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) forecasting techniques may seem costly. However, a new study, “The Value of Improved ENSO Prediction to U.S. Agriculture,” indicates that such long‐term forecasting is a bargain that could offer economic benefits to the U.S. agricultural sector of $240 to $324 million each year.
