Propagation of electromagnetic waves in general media consisting of nonuniform anisotropic materials is studied using the transmission‐line modeling (TLM) method. A general approach to the derivation of the scattering properties of the most general nodes used in TLM simulation is presented together with an assessment of the numerical dispersion of TLM schemes and ways in which it can be reduced.
