For a period of twenty years the correlation between local readings of total ozone collected above Hohenpeissenberg are correlated with local measurements of the tropopause pressure above Munich. Regionally averaged values of ozone columns provided by TOMS are additionally correlated with tropopause pressure derived from ECMWF analyses. The correlation coefficient between total ozone and tropopause pressure results to 0.48±0.02 (local data) and 0.55±0.02 (regional mean values). A vertical displacement of the tropopause by one kilometre is associated with an ozone anomaly of 13 Dobson units.
