Aftershock sequences which occurred in Japan from 1971 through 1993 are investigated by fitting the modified Omori formula and the Gutenberg‐Richter relation to find that p ‐ and b ‐values have a positive correlation. It is also shown that there are positive correlations between each of these parameters and the fractal dimension of hypocenter distribution of aftershocks.
