Results of a reexamination of the geomagnetic coordinate system in the vicinity of the Sondrestrom radar corrects earlier estimates of the proper direction to the corrected geomagnetic pole [ Wickwar et al., 1984]. We find the corrected geomagnetic pole direction at the Sondrestrom radar to be −17° geographic azimuth in contrast to the −27° value in common usage.
