Long time series of diurnal pressure variations, S1(p), at Macao (22° N,113°E) and Batavia (now Djakarta: 6°S, 107°E) are analysed, and, at both locations, a correlation is found between S1(p) and El Niño‐Southern Oscillation (ENSO). Some possible physical explanations for this correlation are given.
