Decade variations in the three components of the Earth rotation and low‐degree geomagnetic Gauss coefficients are examined. Variations with a time scale of 20–30 years are confirmed in both the Earth rotation and the magnetic axial dipole moment. The second degree tesseral Gauss coefficients also appear to have a variation with the same time scale. The components are characterized by high ellipticity of the g‐h path in the direction of 34°W. They appear to have phase change at around 1940. Considering the phase change, paths of the components and the mean pole have great similarity.
