A multibeam Doppler radar technique for atmospheric vorticity measurements is presented and analyzed. The technique is applicable with steerable and modular radars with three or four independent modules centered about the vertices of an equilateral triangle or a square. An accuracy of ∼10 −3 –10 −2 s −1 is predicted in stratospheric vorticity measurements, depending on the available module separations and observation zenith angles.
