The models for worst‐month analysis are reconsidered. A new procedure is proposed for the estimation of the expected distribution of annual worst‐month statistics from a series of monthly exceedances or from climate zone based rain attenuation models. The new procedure is easy to apply, and the results are consistent with available observations.
