The National Energy Strategy (NES) is the presidential blueprint for energy security. The keystone of the strategy is continuing a policy of reliance on market forces rather than government intervention to meet energy objectives. Some energy analysts speculate that the market preference for cheap fossil fuels will seriously delay the transition to a sustainable energy future. In fact, even the threat of global climate change and the reality of a war for oil have done little to persuade markets to invest in renewable energy technologies. What does the NES propose for our energy future?
