In the news item “Report assesses nutrient pollution in U.S. streams and aquifers” in the 5 October 2010 issue of Eos (91(40), 359), a sentence in the fourth paragraph should have read, “The assessment found that the proportion of wells that exceed the federal human health drinking water standard—the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL)—increased from 16% at the beginning of the assessment period to 21% at the end of the period, Dubrovsky said.” Eos regrets this error.
