China launched its second weather forecasting satellite on 27 May. Called Fengyun 3, the new polar‐orbiting satellite will monitor Earth's atmosphere, climate, oceans, and polar caps and will help scientists predict and monitor extreme weather over China, according to the Chinese Meteorological Administration.
