The purpose of this letter is to present an analysis of the three‐dimensional wind field retrieved from mobile Doppler radar data of the 12 May 2004 Harper, KS tornadoes. The derived three‐dimensional vortex structure and its surrounding flow show marked temporal and spatial variability. This has significant implications on the numerical modeling of tornado‐scale flow.
