Council held a very productive meeting on 17 June using telephone conferencing and a Web‐based system for sharing documents. Although the Executive Committee and many other committees have long conducted their business telephonically this was a first for Council. The early date of the Joint Assembly in Nice, which incorporated AGU's 2003 Spring Meeting, meant that the critical item for Council, approval of the slate of candidates for the next election, would not be ready for action at that time. Thus, the meeting was scheduled for June in conjunction with the Planning Committee.
