A new report on the global state of coral reefs indicates that there is “strong evidence that the corner is being turned” in the ability to stop reef decline. However, attempts to manage coral reefs to arrest their decline still lag behind the increasing rate of reef degradation, according to the report, “Status of Coral Reefs of the World 2002,” issued on 10 December. The report is produced biennially by the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN).
