A regression analysis involving tide gauge and altimeter sea level data is used to construct an estimate for interannual changes in sea level associated with the El Niño Southern Oscillation in the tropical Pacific Ocean. The method provides an assessment of the island regions most at risk of anomalously high sea levels during peak El Niño and La Niña events.
