In Well Logging for Physical Properties , Joe Hearst, Phil Nelson, and Fred Paillett appropriately urge that a fundamental “understanding” of the physics behind these measurements is needed for useful geological interpretations. They aim to provide the basic underlying principles, evaluate the benefits, and highlight potential pitfalls of conventional logging tools. Given that these authors have each published extensively on specific methods, they easily bank enough expertise in the aggregate to do this effectively.
