Robert Farquhar had a little extra reason to feel optimistic on February 12. The newspaper horoscope for Virgo for that day had indicated that his lucky number is five. “I thought, ‘Wait a minute, we have five burns today’” said Farquhar, mission director for the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory's (APL) NEAR Shoemaker mission.
