The Volcanology, Geochemistry & Petrology (VGP) Section presented six outstanding student papers at the 1999 AGU Fall Meeting in San Francisco, California, last December. Jeremy W. Boyce presented a paper titled “Experimental Evidence for the Non‐Retentive Behavior of Ar from Melt Inclusions in Quartz Phenocrysts.” Jeremy completed his B.S. degree in geology at UCLA in 1997, and chose to remain in beautiful, sunny Westwood, California, for graduate work because of the challenging problem offered to him by advisor Mary Reid. After the completion of his M.S. this spring, he plans to continue graduate school. Jeremy's Ph.D. project will involve helium diffusion and applications of the U‐Th/He system.
