Timothy Killeen, president of AGU's Space Physics and Aeronomy Section, begins his tenure as director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) on July 5, 2000. Managed by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR)—a consortium of universities—NCAR's objective is to equip the university research community with the human resources and the computational and observational infrastructure needed to sustain and expand progress in atmospheric and related sciences.
