Ammonium diffusivity in xanthan solutions drastically decreases as xanthan concentration increases. The D AP / D AW ratio was practically independent of pH and a weak function of the ionic strength. This diffusional behavior is a typical case of the diffusion of a small molecule in a non‐Newtonian macromolecular solution.
