ResumenEl presente artículo ofrece una síntesis del origen, desarrollo y progresos alcanzados por el pensamiento liberal, mismo que no se agota en asuntos como el libre mercado y la democracia. En palabras del autor, el texto constituye una invitación para conocer el liberalismo, revalorizando su importancia, a partir de los autores que a su juicio, lo han hecho de la mejor manera; pues además de brindar en su momento, algunos elementos para conocer el término, en el presente existen situaciones que también son susceptibles de afrontarse con las ideas económicas, políticas y sociales de teóricos como: John Stuart Mill, Adam Smith, John Locke, Benjamin Constant, Thomas Hill Green o Alexis de Tocqueville.AbstractThe article presents an overview of the origin, development and progress of liberal thought, which is not limited to issues such as free market and democracy.
