Over the past 30 years feminists and women's organizations, in Ireland and globally, have drawn increased attention to the reality of violence against women through the provision of services, lobbying, training and research. Intervention from untransformed institutions even with the best will of committed individuals, must be controlled by the woman herself at every stage of the process.
