Education has the potential to influence the development of professional self-images. Interaction with significant others in an educational setting in perioperative nursing, which is grounded in professional standards and provides significant others who perceive the practice area as a professional one, was hypothesized as having the potential to contribute to the professional self-image of the students. This contribution was confirmed in the significantly increased professional self-image scores measured in the treatment group.
