Nurses returning to school after an absence from the academic world have special problems. They usually have a job, family, and civic responsibilities to consider. Four operating room nurses responded to the following questions: As a recent student, what advice would you give a nurse returning to school? What should the new nurse‐student be prepared for? Are there ways he or she can make reentry into education easier? Once in the system, what can the new student do to “survive”?
