• MANAGERS AND STAFF MEMBERS in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ, determined that surgeon and OR staff member problems were impeding their ability to function as a team. • AN RN FIRST ASSISTANT was hired to act as OR concierge. Her primary role was to ensure smooth functioning of procedures performed in the facility. • PHYSICIAN COMPLAINTS DISAPPEARED, OR staff members found the concierge supportive and adept at problem solving, and surgical volume increased significantly.
