Objective: To evaluate endometrial dyeing with methylene blue dye during hysteroscopy in diagnosis of endometritis.Design: Prospective cohort study.Materials and methods: The study included 57 patients with absent macroscopic pathology on transvaginal sonography and hysteroscopy. Endometrial features were described after methylene blue dye injection at hysteroscopy. Patients were classified into two groups. Group I (n=41) with diffuse light staining and Group II (n=16) with focal dark blue staining. Endometrial biopsy was then taken for histopathological examination. Results: There was a significant difference in diagnosis of chronic endometritis between both groups. Group I 3/41 (7.31%) and Group II 7/16 (43.57%) and P value was <0.05 in comparing both groups. Group II showed sensitivity (70%), specificity (80.8%), positive predictive value (43.7%) and negative predictive value (92.6%).Conclusion: Endometrial dyeing with methylene blue dye is a valuable tool at hysteroscopy for diagnosis of chronic endometritis and should be applied to such cases
