time, those who were CN at baseline and converted to MCI within 5 years demonstrated trajectories of increasing NPS relative to non-converters (p<.001; Figure 1). Conclusions: For CN older adults, baseline NPS severity confers risk for conversion to MCI within 5 years. Further, CN older adults who convert to MCI within 5 years demonstrate accelerated increases in NPS over time relative to non-converters. Findings suggest that NPS predict conversion to MCI, and these symptoms increase over time among those who convert. Studying NPS in those who are CN provides a foundation for understanding how NPS evolve as cognitive ability declines. Future work will examine the temporal relation between increasing NPS and progression of AD and/or vascular pathologies.
