AD and modulated by the use of statin.Methods:12-weeks-old female mice from the hAPP-J20 line were stereotactically administered collagenase (0.8mU/mL) to induce cortical lesion. CMBmice received Atorvastatin (At) (5mg/kg/day) over the followup period. At six weeks post-surgery, we performed a multimodal assessment, including cognitive performances (spontaneous activity, anxiety, working, visuo-spatial and recognition memory), cerebral volume and metabolism by MRI and fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-PET. Results: At six weeks post-surgery, CMB-mice showed a lower level of anxiety, restored by the use of At (31% of total time spent in open arms in CMB-mice vs 13% in Shammice vs 16% in CMB-AT-mice). A decline in visuo-spatial and recognition memory was also observed in CMB-mice, but this difference was not significant, Sham-mice showed already a severe impairment in visuo-spatial memory. The spontaneous activity and the working memory were not disturbed. The volume and metabolism in the cortex and the hippocampus were similar in the three groups. Conclusions: In our female transgenic model, CMB early affected the non cognitive performance, which was sensitive to a pharmalogical modulation by At.
