The estimated survival of the total sample was 82.7% for 12 months, 63.0% for 24 months and 51% for 36 months. The nutritional status (p1⁄40.001) and the stage of dementia (p1⁄40.003) were significantly associated with survival and there was no interference of socio-demographic factors after adjustment. No sociodemographic factor could predict survival in this sample. There was no statistically significant association between the presence of dysphagia and shorter survival. Conclusions:Significant correlation was found between malnutrition and more advanced stage of dementia with lower survival and no significant correlation between the presence of dysphagia and shorter survival.
