NCDs. We find an association between clinical dysfunction of the frontal-subcortical circuits and patients with NCDs; which substantially increases, with the presence of apathy. When apathy coexists with depression in NCDs, the frontal-subcortical circuit’s dysfunction is augmented. However, more studies are needed to correlate these findings with functional and structural biomarkers for a more solid evidence of the neuronal pathways involved.
