.023). In addition, naMCI exhibited significantly higher hardswitching score on letter fluency task compared to aMCI (t(57) 1⁄4 -2.21, p 1⁄4 .033). In terms of functional neuroanatomical substrates, mean cluster size on the semantic fluency task was negatively associated with regional cerebral glucose metabolism (rCMglc) in the left middle frontal gyrus, and hard-switching score on letter fluency was positively associated with rCMglc in the left middle and inferior frontal gyrus. Conclusions: The findings suggest that aMCI patients perform verbal fluency task in more efficient manner compared to non-amnestic counterparts despite the same level of overall performance and that such efficiency is associated with functional state of the middle and inferior prefrontal cortices.
