level of adherence to MeDi had less loss in hippocampal volume by approximately 2.5 years of age-related loss. Using hippocampal volumewithout adjustment of intracranial volume or ratio of hippocampal volume to intracranial volume yielded similar findings. Additional adjustment of vascular risk factors did not change the results. Conclusions:Closer adherence to MeDi was associated with slower rates of hippocampal atrophy in our study population. Our study suggests that following a healthy diet might help to prevent hippocampal atrophy among cognitively normal elderly.
