associated with a 2.5 hazard ratio for death (Table 1a). EQ-VAS proxy-rated health for the patient was a stronger predictor of mortality and a dose-effect was evident. Patients with EQ-VAS proxy-rated health below 50 were 9 times more likely to die within three years than those whose scores were above 80. Patients with scores between 50 and 80 had a fourfold increase in risk of dying compared to those with scores above 80 (Table 1b). Conclusions: The study identified EQ-VAS self-rated health and proxy-rated health as early and strong predictors of three-year mortality for patients with mild dementia.
