strange face caring for them. This makes all the difference in the world. The residents do not feel institutionalized. They feel like they are "at home". They feel as if the caregivers are members of their family. This is where the "iCare" approach comes in. Staff working in a dementia unit must sincerely care and be able to show it. When you make eye contact, devote your time and attention, and touch them in a loving manner, they are going to be receptive to this and realize the person cares about them.
