parahippocampal diffusivity (ES>2.0), followed by posterior cingulum (ES1⁄41.5), genu (ES1⁄41.3) and isthmus (ES1⁄41.0). No differences were found betweenMCI/AD. Smaller hippocampal volumes in the patient group were associated with higher hippocampal diffusivity. Diffusivity in the genu predicted decline in the group of MCI-subjects. Conclusions: DTI metrics are more sensitive for group differences than atrophymeasurements. Our results suggest that diffusion changes precede and occur independent of GM atrophy. DTI metrics in the genu are able to predict cognitive decline in MCI.
