Kaen University who were at the age of 60 years or above. The content validity and test-retest reliability of the RUDAS-Thai and the MMSEThai 2002 were performed initially. It was administered to each participant. Then a specialist physician assessed each participant for dementia. All assessments were carried out in a blind and independent manner. Results: Eighty-nine (44.5%) subjects had dementia, 89 (44.5%) had normal cognition and 22 (11%) had mild cognitive impairment. The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve for both RUDAS-Thai (81.0%; 95%CI,74.8-87.2) and MMSE-Thai 2002 (81.2%; 95%CI,74.987.4) were equal. Both tests were highly correlated with a Pearson’s coefficient of 0.8 (95%CI;0.745-0.85, P<0.0001). A score of 24 or lower showed an optimal cutpoint for detecting dementia based on their overall performances of both tests. Conclusions: RUDAS-Thai can be used in replace of MMSE-Thai 2002 for dementia screening in Thai geriatrics. For both test scores, a score of 24 or lower is an optimal cutpoint for an indication of developing dementia.
