Background: Apolipoprotein E (APOE)-ε4 genotype has been related to significantly increased risk of late-onset Alzheimer’s disease (AD). However, 60% of AD patients are not APOE-ε4 carriers. Up to date, no study has extensively explored how APOE-ε4 modifies the associations between potential confounders and the risk of AD, especially in Asian population. Methods: A total of 287 AD patients aged 60 or older were recruited from three teaching hospitals from 2007 to 2010.
