The relationship between attitudes/beliefs and quality in the pilot sample will also be explored. Conclusions: Families play an important role in the wellbeing and health of older people living in residential settings. A valid and reliable tool to measure the quality of staff-family relationships will enable aged services to assess this potentially important aspect of care. Understanding the association between individual attitudes and beliefs of staff (and families) and the overall quality of relationships may also provide guidance on potential interventions to improve relationships, and by extension, the wellbeing and health of residents.
