CSF analysis revealed significant differences for Abeta, tau and phosphorylated tau between alcoholics and AD patients who had more severe biochemical anomalies. Conclusions: In elderly patients suffering from episodic memory disturbances, when the clinical and neuropsychological assessments cannot help to finalize an established diagnosis, CSF biomarkers can be very contributing to differentiate between elderly alcoholics and AD patients.
