deposition first and then amyloid plaque formation in transgenic mice. Conclusions: The slight cognitive impairment observed in pre-plaque aged mice, sustain the hypothesis for a pathological function of the overexpressed non-aggregated intracellular amyloid. Moreover, these findings evidence for the first time a causal correlation between hyperhomocysteinemia and AD and suggest a molecular mechanism for the onset of sporadic AD.
