Concomitant with the downregulation of BMP signaling was a substantial increase in the expression of Smad7, an inhibitor of BMP signaling, and Bambi, a negative regulator of TGF-beta signaling, upon TSA and BMP2 treatment. Despite the striking discrepancy between the overall expression profiles in TSA and BMP2 treatment, some important genes are regulated similarly, supporting a connection between chromatin reorganization and BMP signaling.
