movementwasexamined. Treating explantsacutelywithpicrotoxin, a GABAA receptor antagonist, significantly increased GnRH-1 neuronal migration [even at 4 days = 23mm/h]. Muscimol, a GABAA receptor agonist, attenuated GnRH-1 neuronal migration at all days examined (10mm/h) and GnRH-1 neuronal speed in nasal explants from GAD67 KO mice was significantly faster as compared to controls. This study reports new aspects of GnRH-1 neuronal migration such as speed, GABA influence and saltatory movement. These data indicate that GnRH-1 cells, which undergo neurophilic migration, share characteristic with other migratory neurons like cerebellar and cortical neurons, which undergo gliophilic migration. Moreover this study describes a model in which large numbers of primaryneuronscanberesolved, apposed to theirnativepathway, to evaluate specific molecules important for cell migration as well as changes in cellular components during movement.
