mapping. In addition we show that plp/dm-20 expressing cells recombining at E13.5 are not the progeny of neuroepithelial cells expressing plp/dm-20 at E9.5. All these findings lead us to state that, in the embryonic diencephalon, neurons and glial cells are generated by distinct progenitors, which segregate shortly after the closure of the neural tube and may have a different intrinsic commitment, thereby supporting the model of segregation.
