sites, respectively. In SynGAP mutants, Krox20 mRNA expression is reduced whilst expression of Krox24 mRNA expression is increased. Therefore SynGAP appears to positively regulate Krox20 and negatively regulate Krox24 and these proteins may differentially alter the expression of N-terminal SynGAP isoforms. These data suggest the presence of feedback loops between SynGAP and Krox20 and 24 that may be important for regulating the response of cortical neurons to NMDA receptor activity.
